Harsham

In Kadampuzha, OMAD Architects builds from brick, wood, and the shifting geometry of afternoon light - a house that earns its name through craft, not declaration. Harsham Residence, completed in 2026, is a 2,950-square-foot private residence prioritizing comfort and restraint over excess. The building's defining element is the diagonal brick screen: a wall of bricks set at forty-five degrees, creating a diamond lattice of voids through which light tracks the day.

Inside, each material is present as itself, with no apology: unrendered brick, rubble rough stone, Athangudi tiles underfoot, and wooden slat screens. The veranda - a covered, shaded space between house and garden - is clearly the social heart of the building. What distinguishes Harsham's photographic record is the density of human presence - portraits of a house being lived in.
