Penthouse Residence
Overview
A Home That Refuses to Leave the Ground
Elevated above the commercial world below, the Abhilash Joseph penthouse by Common Ground Architecture performs a quiet act of defiance—insisting on earth, memory, and sky. Occupying the topmost floor of a mixed-use building in Malaparambu, the residence is designed as a Kerala home, warm, green, and unhurried, that simply happens to be in the sky.
Our documentation captures this elevated shelter. A long glass corridor is bordered by a terrace garden pressing its tropical Heliconia and creeping plants against the glass. At its heart, the pitched wooden ceiling recalls the sloped, timber-lined roofscapes of Kerala domestic vernacular, translated upward without irony.
Not a penthouse in the sense of urban luxury but a Kerala home, warm and green and unhurried, that simply happens to be in the sky.
